About

Mesquite High School Wildcat Band

The Mesquite High School Band program is committed to the development of outstanding young people and outstanding young performers. We believe that an everyday commitment to becoming the best we are capable of being will lead to success both in music and in life. MHS Bands develop outstanding people through great performances. Mesquite High School Wildcat Band is made up of Jazz Band, Marching Band, Marching Drill, Percussion Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Winter Drumline, Winter Guard and Wind Ensemble.

Mesquite High School Band is led by Steve Quintana, Director of Bands. Mr. Quintana has led the Mesquite High Wildcat Band since 2020. Mr. Quintana, has been playing percussion with the Salt River Brass since October 2016. He most enjoys the strong senses of professionalism amongst the band members and playing great music.

Steve believes “music reveals and portrays the hidden magic and emotions of ideas and concepts that we could never describe with words alone.” His advice to anyone interested in playing music, regardless of your age, is that “when you buy into the grind of technique development and embrace the music in simple technical exercises, your abilities will grow at the speed you want them to. Yes, it is hard, but hard investments have huge returns in the long run.”
