Winter Guard Club

The Mesquite High School Band Program is pleased to announce the Mesquite Junior Guard Club at Mesquite Junior High School! Participants will be trained by our experienced Guard staff! Please pass this information on to all MJHS friends and family who might be interested!

Annual Rummage Sale Volunteers Needed!!!!

We will be hosting our annual rummage sale next Saturday, January 20th. You may bring in items you would like to donate at any time and we will have a special drop-off time for the night before on Friday, January 19th. If you have any larger items that you would like to bring by, they are welcome, just please inform Mr. Willers so we can store them in an appropriate area until the sale. Any items that are not re-sold will be donated to Goodwill, and must meet their requirements to be accepted. Please see the list below from Goodwill. Goodwill will be giving the boosters .10 cents per pound for all of the items donated.

We are in desperate need of volunteers to prepare the items for the sale after school on Friday, January 19, 2018, and on the day of the sale from 6:00 a.m. until after Goodwill picks up the unsold items at 2:00 p.m.

Welcome Back Wildcats!

Welcome back Wildcats! I hope you have all had a great break! We get this semester rolling right away with some big events including some fundraisers, regional auditions, and the school musical. Here are some of the details:

Rummage Sale – Saturday, January 20th. (Drop off time after school on Friday, January 19th)

We will be hosting our annual rummage sale next Saturday, January 20th. AMEA Regional Auditions – Friday and Saturday January 26th-27th

The following weekend, we will be hosting the AMEA Central Region auditions this year. Auditions will start on Friday at 5:00 pm. We are asking for students to help as proctors, set-up, tear-down and any parents to help us with our check-in table, hospitality rooms for judges and directors. All volunteers will need to wear MHS Blue and have a supportive attitude to make sure all auditioning students have a great experience!

Two fundraisers: Chipotle Dinner Night (Tuesday, January 23rd 5:00  – 9:00 pm) and Little Caesar’s Pizza Kit (pass out in class on Wed, January 17th, due back Wed. January 31st)

Please help us support the band with your participation at these events! We could not do it without you! I hope you are all having a good week back into school, and I look forward to seeing all of you at these events!

Marching Band Championships and Community Send-off Performance

Congratulations to the Wildcat Marching Band on another successful season! Our final performances will be this Saturday at the AzMBA Championships (5:15 pm @ Campo Verde HS) and Saturday the 18th at the ABODA State Finals (Noon @ ASU’s Sun Devil Stadium).

In addition, we are pleased to announce that we will conclude our final Tuesday (11/14) with a special “Parent/Community Send-Off” performance. We invite all parents, alumni, and community members to catch one of our final performances of “Weathering the Storm”. Performance will begin at 7:30 pm, come on out and show your appreciation for how hard these students have worked to make their show great!

Welcome Back Wildcats!

Here we go! The 2017-18 school year is just around the corner. As we return, a couple things too be aware of with our website as it pertains to each of our classes this year.

  • Regional Etudes are posted in the members areas for Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Percussion. Each student will be asked to learn them. Please see 2017-18 handbook for these requirements, in addition we will go over this on the 1st day of classes this Wednesday. 
  • If you are in need of an instrument for rental this year, the Desert Sounds program is here to help! They are holding a meeting this Wednesday, August 2nd at Gilbert High School (En Espanol 6:15 pm, English at 7:15 pm). 
  • We will be planning to utilize frequent reference recordings in our members areas for festival repertoire and more, already posted are some general quality recordings for you to reference. 
  • Please have your instruments/materials for this Friday the 4th, we will be taking our first look at the repertoire for this season then.
